Do I need to have access to a computer to attend?
Yes. However, qualified students may receive a loaner computer system (including desktop computer for grades K–8, printer, and software) to support the learning process. These computer systems are instructional property and must be returned when the student leaves the school. Hoosier Academy at Indianapolis (Hoosier) will arrange for technical support and troubleshooting for these systems. Each family will need to secure their own internet service provider. Families that qualify for a loaner computer may also qualify for a stipend to offset the cost of their internet service. This determination will take place during the enrollment process.
What computer skills are required?
The Learning Coach needs to have at least basic computer skills. Use of the computer is an important part of the online school program. In the elementary grades, it is mostly the Learning Coach who interacts with the computer. Middle school students are most successful if they have basic computer skills.
