Meet the brilliant student teams who crushed the competition and took home the top titles in this year’s K12 Robotics League!

A young boy kneels on a robotics competition mat, excitedly operating a robot. A crowd of spectators watches, capturing the moment with cameras.

We’re thrilled to introduce the winning teams of the 2025 K12 Robotics League! After months of coding, testing, and tackling three tough virtual rounds, nine standout teams made it to the ultimate showdown—the live finals on June 3 at K12 Headquarters in Reston, Virginia.

These finalists represented three grade bands and came from eight K12-powered schools across the country. In the final round, they traded their screens for real-world robots—programming EV3 bots and competing on physical mats in a high-energy, hands-on event! It was a full day of action, and in the end, three amazing teams rose to the top.

🔧 What’s the K12 Robotics League all about?

Open to students in grades 4–12 at K12-powered schools, the Robotics League is a fun way to build fundamental STEM skills. Students start by competing virtually, programming their robots to complete challenges. Then, the top teams move on to an in-person grand finale!

Finalists earn national recognition, and this year’s champions each walked away with a shiny trophy and a $500 prize! 💰💡

🥇 Grade 4–6 Champions: Team Robomasters

Minh An “Alex,” a 4th grader from California Virtual Academies, was the one-student wonder behind Team Robomasters!

In his very first year competing, Alex amazed the judges with a top score of 80 and a lightning-fast run time of 54.17 seconds. His dedication and sharp skills earned him the #1 spot in a super competitive division.

💡 Fun fact: Alex learned how to code by visiting his local library—and he couldn’t wait to share the win with his librarian!

🥇 Grade 7–9 Champions: The Cogsmiths

The Cogsmiths are a powerhouse team of 9th graders from California Virtual Academies: Noah (CAVA at Sutter), Katherine (CAVA at Fresno), and Matthew (CAVA San Joaquin).

These teammates scored an impressive 120 with a run time of 65.12 seconds to clinch their division’s championship title.

💡 Fun fact: Noah and Matthew were also part of the Minecraft Build Challenge at ISTE 2024, where they represented K12 on a national stage!

🥇 Grade 10–12 Champions: Team Hello Kitty

The 10–12th grade champs, Team Hello Kitty, are from Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy! The team includes Kirsta (11th grade) and Ayibatari (10th grade), both seasoned pros in the robotics scene.

Kirsta returned this year after placing second in 2024—and came back stronger than ever to lead her team to victory with a score of 60 and a blazing-fast run time of 23.53 seconds!

💡 Fun fact: Kirsta also competed at the World Robot Olympiad in Puerto Rico last fall!

💪 Practice Makes Champions

From their first lines of code to their final robot runs, these students showed incredible growth, problem-solving skills, teamwork, and persistence. We’re so proud of everything they’ve accomplished—and we can’t wait to see what challenges they take on next!
