Ohio families can choose between K12-powered online public schools — tuition-free and state-accredited — or a homeschool alternative with K12 curriculum and support. Options are available for grades K–12. Use the school finder to see which K12-powered schools serve your area and are currently enrolling.

The key difference is who teaches: in homeschooling, parents choose the curriculum and lead instruction, while online public school students receive instruction from state-certified teachers in virtual classrooms with content tailored for a personalized approach. Like homeschooling in Ohio, students are empowered to drive their own learning—but they also have extracurricular opportunities and social activities with peers as part of their school experience.

While there are similarities, K12-powered school is not homeschool. K12-powered schools have state-certified teachers, school principals and administrators, and an established curriculum developed by education professionals. Students receive report cards, teachers provide support and instruction, and state attendance and academic requirements, including assessments, are met. Plus, online public school powered by K12 is tuition-free.*
